100% Gamay from the his plantings on the prestigious Cote Du Py. The wine is fermented with whole clusters and indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in concrete tanks to preserve freshness and balance, as Gamay has a difficult relationship with oak according to Jean-Marc. The result is an expressive Gamay laden with violets and dark berries
Notes on the producer
Domaine Jean-Marc Burgaud, established in 1989, spans 19 hectares: 13 in Morgon (including 8 on Côte du Py with 50+ year-old vines), 1 in Régnié, and 5 in Beaujolais Villages. Coming from a winemaking family, Jean-Marc combines generations of tradition with a diploma in oenology. The vineyards are farmed organically, worked by hand and horse, with dense plantings to enhance terroir expression. Jean-Marc prioritises healthy grapes, believing great wine comes from harmony between grower and land. In the cellar, he uses traditional methods: whole-cluster maceration, indigenous yeasts, and minimal intervention. Wines age in concrete or barrique and are bottled between April and August, with some cuvées lightly filtered to preserve balance and authenticity.
