The Vignaverde is 100% Grillo from 9 hectares of 30 year-old vines planted on limestone-rich soils in the Samperi zone in Marsala. Raised in stainless steel tanks, this zippy white is designed for early drinking.
Notes on the producer
The De Bartoli winery is situated 12km from Marsala in western Sicily and was founded by Marco who took over from his mother Josephine in 1978. At the time the estate had been producing Marsala wine for over two centuries and was in steep decline. However, Marco renovated the vineyards and cellar to rapidly become the driving force behind a new way of wine production in Sicily, combining innovation and ancient tradition to give rise to world-renowned Marsala, passito and dry wines. Today, his children Josephine, Renato and Sebastiano run the business and the wines continue to reach the highest levels of quality and innovation. A range of indigenous grapes are grown organically on the estate including Grillo, Zibibbo, Catarratto and Perricone.
