A serious Chardonnay that could be mistaken for a top burgundy, this wine really packs a lot in. The diligent use of new oak provides some spicy, nutty flavours alongside a lemony, peachy fruitfulness, with lees ageing adds a lovely richness also.
Notes on the producer
The “Toques et Clochers” series from cooperative Sieur d’Arques (which members number 400) literally translates as “Chefs’ Hats and Bell Towers”, and takes its name from a famous annual charity auction and major wine event which raises money to preserve the Limoux region’s historic churches. The event is catered for by michelin starred chefs too, hence the "toques"!
