The Alsace

The Alsace: The Best Wines You’re Not Drinking

The Alsace, a wine region unlike any other. Perched high in the mountains Its exceptional terroir, rich winemaking heritage, and distinct grape varieties produce wines of remarkable purity, elegance, and character.

The region’s diverse soils range from granite and limestone to clay and volcanic rock. Combine this with a cool continental climate and you create the perfect conditions for slow-ripening grapes. An ideal balance for the development of intense aromatics and vibrant acidity, the hallmarks of these wines.

The Grapes in Question

The Alsace is best known for its aromatic white grape varieties, each expressing the unique personality of the land.

Riesling, the king of the Alsace, is crisp, acidic, mineral-driven and capable of great aging potential.

Gewurztraminer, a grape often produced demi-sec or fermented till completely dry. is bold and exotic, bursting with spice, and floral notes.

Pinot Gris offers a rich and more full-bodied style with hints of ripe stone fruits and smokiness.

Muscat however, intensely aromatic, perfumed and fresh, capturing the essence of the grape itself.

Pinot Blancand Sylvaner on the other hand provide a lighter, fruit-forward alternative, perfect for easy drinking on a hot summer day.
