Our Favourite Organic Wines of The Year.

Moreover, these wines often contain fewer additives, allowing the true character of the grape to shine through. So here are some of our favourites…

 

Alessandro Viola, Note di Rosso, 2022

Alessandro Viola's 2022 Note di Rosso is a natural Sicilian red wine made from Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese and Perricone. Sourced from organic vineyards planted in 2006, it undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, a 10-day maceration, and six months of aging in neutral chestnut barrels. Unfiltered and free of added sulfites, the wine reflects Viola's minimal intervention philosophy. It features aromas of ripe red fruits, cherries, eucalyptus, and olives, with a juicy, balsamic freshness, soft tannins, and good persistence.

 

Andreas Bender, Weissburgunder, 2022

The Andreas Bender Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) 2022 is a crisp wine from the Mosel in Germany. It offers fresh aromas of green apple, pear, and citrus, complemented by subtle floral and mineral notes. The palate is well-balanced with bright acidity and a smooth, slightly creamy texture, making it a refreshing and versatile white wine. Ideal for pairing with seafood, salads, or light poultry dishes.

 

Domaine De Belliviere, Premices, 2022

Domaine de Bellivière's Prémices 2022 is a biodynamically crafted Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley. Made from 10- to 40-year-old vines on flinty clay soils over limestone. Aged for 10 months in used oak, it offers aromas of white peach, pear, lime-flower, and wet stone. The palate is crisp and mineral-driven, with firm acidity and a slightly off-dry finish due to natural fermentation. This cuvée provides an accessible introduction to the estate’s expressive Jasnières wines.

 

Domaine Philippe Chatillon, La Grande Chaude Blanc, 2022

The Domaine Philippe Chatillon La Grande Chaude Blanc 2022 is a white wine from the Jura region of France. This wine is made from Chardonnay grapes, offering a fresh and vibrant profile with notes of citrus, white flowers, and subtle minerality. It typically exhibits good acidity and balance, with a clean and crisp finish. The 2022 vintage reflects the region's character, with a focus on terroir and elegance. It pairs well with seafood, poultry, and creamy dishes. The wine highlights both the complexity and finesse of Jura whites.

 

Envinate, Benje Blanco, 2023

Envinate's Benje Blanco is a unique white wine from Tenerife. Envinate, a group of four friends passionate about traditional winemaking, emphasizes the expression of terroir, and this wine showcases Tenerife’s landscape perfectly. made entirely from Listán Blanca grapes grown on old 70-110 year old vines. Grown on volcanic soils. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in concrete vats and is aged for eight months in a mix of concrete and used French oak barrels. It has a fresh, fruity profile with a strong reductive profile. Aromas of apple, pear, floral,and citrus notes, along with a mineral undertone. The palate features lively acidity and a bitter almond finish.

 

Duncan Savage, Thief in the Night, 2023

Duncan Savage focuses on minimal intervention and terroir-driven winemaking. Thief in the Night is a 2023 red blend from South Africa's Western Cape, featuring 63% Grenache, 26% Cinsault, and 11% Syrah. Made from dry-farmed bush vines in Piekenierskloof. It undergoes spontaneous co-fermentation with wild yeasts and 20% whole clusters, aged in large foudres with minimal oak influence. The wine offers aromas of wild strawberry, forest undergrowth, and grilled herbs, with flavors of earthy berries, bramble, pomegranate, and spice, all balanced by a silky texture, fine tannins, and fresh acidity.
